The All Natural Face Haul + First Impressions

I've been wanting to try The All Natural Face for months now, so when they recently had a deal going on where you paid only $19 for a $50 coupon, the time had definitely come.  I've had this stuff about a week now - enough time to try most things out, but not really long enough to form full opinions.  I really enjoy Nicole of EcoChicBeautyDiva's combined haul/first impressions posts, so I'm going to try and do something similar.  Hopefully she won't mind!

Here's what I spent my coupon on:

Cream Blushes in Peach Goddess, Tequila Sunrise & Peachy Rose
These cream blushes are definitely my favorite of everything I picked up!  Smooth, creamy, and highly pigmented, they blend beautifully and you only need the smallest amount to add a nice flush to your cheeks.  My order was left outside my house and a few things ended up freezing before I got home, which seems to have caused some of the oils in the blushes to separate and come out.  Nothing major - they still work great - but that's what the liquid you can see in the above photo is.

My one complaint with these, and something that I think holds true for a lot of The All Natural Face's products, is that the colours were not all consistent with how they appear online.  I was hoping to use Peach Goddess as a highlight, since it looks pretty light on the website (see here), but it ended up being a rich bronzey peach, not at all suited to highlighting.  It's a beautiful colour and I actually love it on the cheeks, but it's not what I was expecting at all.  I'm also quite taken with Tequila Sunrise, which is a lovely coral pink with a nice sheen.  The third colour, Peachy Rose, was actually the colour I immediately knew I had to have after seeing both Nicole and Brianna (of iluvjesse444) use it, but as it turns out, it's actually the one I'm least excited about in person.  I can't be 100% sure, but mine seems like it has more brown in it than either of theirs, which is a bit disappointing.

Magic Eye Shadow Primer
I've been testing out an eye primer from Faerie Organic the last few days, so I haven't tried this yet.  One other thing to note - the website lists cosmocial cq and potassium sorbate as the two preservatives in the primer, but the actual packaging lists potassium sorbate and polyaminopropyl biguanide.  I'm not familiar with polyaminopropyl biguanide offhand, so I'll have to do a bit more research before giving this a try.

Tinted Lip Balm in Honey Peach
This is a nice, buttery lip balm that imparts just the slightest peach tint to your lips.  It's not highly pigmented, but it feels nice on and lasts a good while on your lips too.

Lip Gloss in Peppermint Stick
Peppermint Stick is described as a light pink, but after seeing swatches online, I was totally expecting a darker, berry shade. As it turns out, it's a light pink after all, and full of silver shimmer.  Because of the shimmer, I think it works best over other lip products, since it ends up looking frosty if you build it up very much.  It's flavoured with peppermint essential oil, which in combination with stevia, leaves the gloss tasting pretty much exactly like a candy cane.

Eye Diva Stix in Milk
I haven't had a chance to do more than swatch this on my hand, but it's the first affordable natural dupe I've found for the NYX jumbo pencils, so I'm excited to try it out.

Color Correcting Cream Concealer in Midas
Probably the biggest disappointment in this order, although I haven't given up on it yet!  I'm constantly on the lookout for something that will completely conceal my dark circles and Katie from zenfemi has spoken highly of this concealer, so I decided to pick it up.  I've only used it a couple times, but I really don't notice much difference and it made the skin under my eyes look kind of bumpy and uneven.  I'll definitely be playing around with this more and will hopefully be able to find a way to make it work better.

Cream Foundation in Porcelain Kissed By Honey
I still haven't found a natural liquid or cream foundation that I've been fully happy with, which is something I'm hoping to change with this guy.  I haven't tried it on my face yet, but Porcelain Kissed By Honey is, I believe, the lightest neutral shade offered, and it looks like it could be a good match for my skin.

Face Food Papayas and Cream Facial Wash
Brianna also recommended the Strawberries and Cream facial wash, but I decided to try the Papayas and Cream one instead.  Papaya is full of enzymes that are supposed to exfoliate your skin and coconut milk is both soothing and moisturizing.  First impression: it smells delicious.  Not sure what kind of results to expect from this, but it's another product I'm excited to try out!

Overall, I'd say I'm pretty happy with my order, but I do think the company would benefit from redoing a lot of their photos to ensure more accurate colour representations.  It's hard enough shopping for makeup online and I, for one, am a lot more likely to buy when I have a good idea of what colours to expect.

Have you tried The All Natural Face?

  2. I am always looking for swatches online as there are barely swatches on the TANF website. Since I have ordered several times, I know now which colors I like, but there were a couple of misses that I thought would look totally different. I love cool shades, but almost all of their shades are warm and browny.
Thanks for the review and new swatches!

    1. I had a hard time finding swatches too. It'd be great if they improved the photos on the actual site. At least their prices are super affordable, I guess, so you aren't out a ton of money for the misses!

    1. That's too bad they don't ship to Italy anymore! Good thing you stocked up :)

Do you use the powder foundation and blush or the cream ones?

    2. Oops, nevermind, I just saw in your haul:) It's funny how much pinker Peachy Rose is in powder form!

  4. I don't mind at all! I've been waiting for this post since you let me know your order arrived lol. I see what you mean about Peachy Rose being a little more brown, it does look slightly darker. Tequila Sunrise and lip gloss in Peppermint stick are beautiful!

  5. Ordered a couple of stuff from ANF already. Tried the Strawberry & Coconut food cleanser, and will be reviewing on that one soon. The colors on the website are so disappointing! I ordered a whole bag of samples to find out which foundation would suit me best, especially with their high range of colors. I'm having such a difficult time! I've tried them over and over, and I'm still not sure which one suits my skin tone =.=. Hope I'll be able to find by tomorrow...Want to order from them asap! Imma stop the babling haha. Great review! Definitely planning to try the Tequilla Sunrise and Peachy Rose blushes! The Tequilla one looks adorable for summer wear. Can't wait to also try that Diva Stix. It looks awesome!

    1. Sorry to hear you were disappointed by the colors too! I've always had a hard time matching mineral foundations. Often I find they're so sheer that they all look virtually the same once you buff them in. Hope you figure it out soon!

I haven't worn Peachy Rose on my face yet, but I really like Tequila Sunrise...you should definitely get it!

  6. Great haul! I also took advantage of the deal and have been playing around with some things. I love the price point and am impressed with the quality of most of the stuff I got. I do think, to expand on what you were saying a bit, that the company would greatly benefit from some better branding. If they improved the photos on the website, for color accuracy and quality, that would be huge.

I used to do layout for my college newspaper, and I learned a lot about font doing that. Papyrus, the font they use, is like an ongoing joke for anyone who does design. It is really unattractive and overused by many who want to convey the idea that something is earthy or natural. It is kind of my pet peeve. If they got some better fonts for their products would be a lot more appealing to me. Anyway that's just my thoughts!

    1. Thanks! I didn't know that about Papyrus. Their branding didn't stand out for me, either way, but I can see why that might rub you the wrong way!

  8. I ordered samples of:powder foundation, blushes, concealer, and eyeshadow primer. Both concealer and e.s primer consistency is..hard,even super hard!I can't scoop the product out of its jar! Do you mind to take a pic of your concealer and cream foundation for me to compare it to mine?Because mine aren't creamy at all.I'll send you the pics too as comparison.

From TANF,I like their powder foundation. The color match to my skin tone:light beige warmest.Plus,I like the fact that they're in plastic pouch, better for shipment and more eco friendly.Rather than buying in small jars..

    2. I guess you got one of the eye shadow primers in a pot? I don't know about that, but the concealer and cream foundation are both pretty solid in the jar. They do melt pretty easily onto your fingers though. I can get enough concealer that way, but might have to find a way to scoop out more for the foundation.

I think I took a picture of the open jars...I'll put it on twitter and tag you :)

    1. I'm not sure if it made it into the newsletter. It was on Your Best Deals, but looks like it's not going on anymore. It did get renewed once before, so maybe keep an eye out? I'll let you know if I see it again!

  10. Hey Caitie! The photos on their website are pretty off to me too. I've been dying to try out their products but I cannot even tell which samples I should order based on the colors shown in the photos. I'm waiting until I get to visit the actual store come March so I can test out some stuff before I buy anything. You're right tho, it is hard enough for us #greenbeauty girls to buy makeup online as it is so this kind of thing can be pretty annoying. Xo, Audreiana from True Beauty By Nature

  12. I'm a huge fan of The All Natural Face (TANF). Pratically 80% of my makeup collection. I have the gel eyeliners (AH!-MAZING!), the magic eyeshadow primer (perfect, best eyeshadow primer ever), cream and liquid foundation(very light with good coverage), argan oil (I use in my hair), make up remover cream, and some eyeshadows.
I bought a diva stix and other stuff, but I'm waiting to arrive.
You will love and will be addicted by TANF. Great products with great ingredients and really affordable.

    1. Sorry for the late reply, somehow I missed your comment until now! The primer didn't work as well for me as I'd hoped, but I'm really liking the cream foundation, diva stix and cream blushes. I've also been curious about the gel liners, will have to give them a try next time I order :)

  13. Since I couldn't find swatches, I emailed ANF and asked if they had a doc somewhere for me to see so I could figure out my color. They sent me what I think is the whole line of foundation for free! Holding up a little baggy to my skin doesn't produce a close match (I'm pale but not vampire, with pink and yellow undertones and flush easily), so it's going to take several swipes on the cheek to see what's what. I'm thinking of sending back the packets I don't even open, so as not to waste all those powder samples!

I've got some Lucy Minerals powder samples I'm going through right now, too. Thanks for the recs!

    1. You're welcome! It's great they sent you so many samples to try. I agree with you, matching foundation shades is always super challenging and it's even worse online! I haven't tried the ANF powder foundation but the cream one is awesome, once you figure out your color :)

  14. I know it's been a very long time since this went up, but I just wanted to say that the cream products are darker than the powder versions. So that's why you were thrown off by the actual color. Also, if cream concealers are clumping up on you, you should try the powder versions instead, from any brand. It can certainly happen. We all have different skin so you never know until you try with any given product. I guess that's what's great about samples. ^_^
I also wish they had better swatches and were more responsive. I emailed to ask about a product and never heard back, but I understand it's a small company. =)

    1. Thanks for the suggestions! I've since tried some of the powder color correctors, and you're right, they do work better for me. It's true about the colors darkening in the cream versions, but I've found it's a much more drastic difference in some colors, like Peach Goddess. I have both the cream and powder of Tequila Sunrise and the difference is very slight. I actually ended up doing cream blush swatches for the ANF before they launched the new website, so hopefully people can get a better idea what to expect now!

Sorry to hear they're still not the greatest with customer service/responsiveness. It's a great company overall, but that's something I hope they'll improve on one of these days!
